Glee Casts Guiding Light Actress to Play Mama Trouty Mouth at 8 November 2011
Glee has cast Guiding Light actress Tanya Clarke to play mom to Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet), Entertainment Weekly reports.
Gleeks will meet Mary Evans in the Dec. 6 episode and the role may recur. The actress, who has also appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles, will be paired with Smallville's John Schneider as Sam's dad.
It was said that Sam and his family moved away from Lima, Ohio in the season premiere because his dad got a job in another town. Overstreet, however, has since inked a deal to return to Glee in a recurring capacity.
Glee Casts Smallville's John Schneider As Sam's Dad at 5 November 2011
Get ready to meet Trouty Mouth's dad!
Smallville alum John Schneider has landed the role of Sam's father and will first appear in this season's eighth episode, which marks Chord Overstreet's return to Glee, TVLine.com reports.
Schneider, who previously appeared on Ryan Murphy's Nip/Tuck, is best known for his role in Dukes of Hazzard.
Glee airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
Glee: Smallville Vet Cast as Sam's Dad! at 5 November 2011
Glee has tapped Smallville patriarch John Schneider to play the father of Chord Overstreet’s trouty mouthed crooner, TVLine has learned exclusively.
The gig reunites Schneider with Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy for the first time since they worked together on FX’s Nip/Tuck (where the Dukes of Hazard vet played porn impresario Ram Peters).
Schneider — who is booked for one episode at this point — make his Glee debut in this season’s eighth episode, which just so happens to be Overstreet’s first episode back as Sam.
Man Confesses to Murdering the Father of Glee's Charice at 4 November 2011
The man suspected of murdering the estranged father of Glee singer Charice in the Philippines turned himself in Thursday, according to The Associated Press. On Monday, police said 40-year-old construction worker Ricky Pempengco was killed after being stabbed in the chest and back with an ice pick by an angry drunk man. The suspect, Angel Capili Jr., surrendered Thursday and told the chief of his village that he was responsible for the murder, Gilbert Cruz, police chief of nearby Laguna province, said.
Charice pulled out of concerts planned for Wednesday and Thursday in Singapore to return home."I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore," she tweeted Tuesday. "I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year."The 19-year-old singer had been estranged from her father since she was a child and was raised by her mother, Raquel. "I loved him and I will still love him," she tweeted. "He's still my Dad after all."
Father of Glee's Charice Killed in the Philippines at 2 November 2011

Glee's New Kid Damian McGinty: Santana Is Gonna Go All Lima Heights Adjacent on Rory! at 29 October 2011
Unfortunately for new Glee kid Damian McGinty, his character Rory will fall madly and immediately in love with Brittany in Tuesday's episode — which will force Santana to go all Lima Heights Adjacent on him.
"I've had many scenes with Naya Rivera. She's terrifying," McGinty, 19, tells TVGuide.com. "Whenever Rory looks terrified, it's not even acting. I feel genuine fear."
Even as he wraps Episode 7, McGinty, who won his role as the pompadour-sporting Irish lad bunking with Ms. Pearce's family on The Glee Project, says things still haven't improved between young Rory and Santana. "In every last one of our scenes, she's been ripping me to shreds," he says.
But whether Santana likes it or not, Rory and Brittany (Heather Morris) go nicely together. "They have a really funny, really sweet partnership," McGinty says. "He also has a lot of hilarious one-liners that are a result of being really innocent — the difference is Rory realizes when he says something stupid." And since Brittany thinks he's her personal leprechaun that no one else can see, part of Rory's plan to woo her is to grant her magic wishes.
The other person Rory will be instantly smitten with is Finn (Cory Monteith), who takes the 15-year-old under his wing after he sees him getting bullied in the halls of McKinley. Turns out Rory's a big fan of Finchel's smooching video from Nationals. "It's as if Rory has been watching Glee for the last two seasons and is a huge fan of all these people, and especially of Finn," McGinty says. "They've got a big brother-little brother relationship going on; it's really cute. To be honest, it's a little like what's happening in real life. Cory's been incredible helping me settle in. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met."
What else is in store for Rory? McGinty dishes:
Like Santana, Kurt (Chris Colfer) won't be a fan, not after Rory shows off his considerable falsetto. He didn't get to use it on The Glee Project, but we'll hear him hit plenty of higher-than-high notes, McGinty says. And Rory won't be a threat to Kurt for long: with Mercedes defecting to Shelby's group — and more to follow — New Directions "is in bad need of some new blood," McGinty says.
Speaking of the two groups, look for an "epic" show choir showdown. Apparently, Shelby's budding choir and Mr. Schue's can't co-exist. "Eventually, there is going to be a huge throwdown between Shelby's all-girl group and the New Directions, and neither wants to lose," McGinty says. "I think it's going to be a grand fight." Will both go to Sectionals, which take place in Episode 8? "You never know on Glee."
Rory will get to, er, participate in West Side Story. McGinty can't give away what happens, and his character did miss auditions, but whatever it is "still has the crew laughing, that's no joke," McGinty says. "People are still talking about it weeks later." He can say this: Rory's part of the chorus, and "his interpretation of the scene is different from anyone else's."
There's a reason for those short shorts (pictured above). Rory will be trying to get involved on the sports side, too. Key word: trying. "I'm gonna play some sports this season, yeah. Whether or not Rory is any good is a different matter altogether, but he really wants to try. At the minute, Rory is just the ultimate underdog, he really is."
And the pompadour? Does Rory think he's a '50s greaser? There's not an answer for this yet, but McGinty says Rory is both "an old soul... but also very young and innocent." Apparently, his '50s fixation isn't just a product of the writers' imaginations either. "It's not. I personally love Bobby Darin music, I love that kind of thing, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin..." So far, McGinty reports he hasn't sung one top-40 hit on the show. "It's all the old stuff," he says, happily.
No subtitles — so far. The Glee Project made liberal use of subtitles in case viewers found McGinty's thick Irish accent unintelligible. But the actor must be enunciating well so far because he hasn't heard that he'll be getting captions any time soon. On the other hand, "I'm almost certain it's going to play a part at some stage. It has to!" he says.
Off-camera, McGinty's really bonded with Mark Salling. Why? The two are fierce table tennis competitors. "We try to beat each other all the time," McGinty says. "If we get five minutes, we rush off to play. Matthew Morrison, too... but he isn't the best, to say the least."
Glee airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
Jonathan Groff Returns As Jesse St. James, Shelby's Club Takes Shape and More! at 27 October 2011
Glee Scoop: Jonathan Groff Returns As Jesse St. James.
Jonathan Groff will be returning to Glee as the former Vocal Adrenaline rival and one-time New Directions co-coach. This time, however, he'll go back to being the competition. At Wednesday's celebration for the 300th musical number — a soulful, booty-shakin' mashup of Adele's "Rumor Has It" and "Someone Like You" — series boss Ryan Murphy revealed that Groff's Jesse St. James would be returning as the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline.
Is Chord Overstreet Returning to Glee? at 18 October 2011
Just when you thought he was out, Glee may pull Chord Overstreet back in.
The actor, who left the series over the summer, is in final talks to return as Sam on a recurring basis, TVLine reports.According to the site, the deal is expected to close soon and will find Sam returning in the season's eighth episode, which is scheduled to air in early December. In the season premiere, Sam's absence was explained as him moving out of the state with his family. It's unclear how he will be written back in.
Overstreet declined a recurring contract with the show in the summer after producers opted not to pick up his series regular option. He has since focused on music and guest-starred on The Middle.
Glee's Not-So-Sweet Sugar at 28 September 2011
Jeers to Glee for making an off-key addition to the cast.In last week's season opener, Vanessa Lengies joined the show as Sugar Motta, a tone-deaf student in more ways than one. Her attribution for her lack of social graces to "self-diagnosed Asperger's" had autism-awareness advocates up in arms. Well, Sugar was back in episode 2 — briefly, thank God — to sing poorly, insult Idina Menzel's Shelby Corcoran ("you have this irritating nasal quality"), then shrug it off: "Sorry, Asperger's."
Sorry, Glee: For a show that goes to sickeningly saccharine lengths to preach tolerance (e.g. this week's "unicorn" subplot with Kurt and Brittany), you've hit a wrong note. One can only hope Sugar's promised third episode will be her swan song. With Sue Sylvester's poll numbers — and ego — swelling, the halls of McKinley High aren't big enough to fit another fathead.
Who is Coming Between Glee's Kurt and Blaine? at 28 September 2011
Just when we thought Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) were going to get to be happy for awhile...
Grant Gustin has joined the cast of Glee as Sebastian, a Dalton Warbler and potential love interest for Blaine, TVLine.com reports. Just because he's a Warbler, doesn't make him a nice guy. In fact, he's described as the male version of Santana (Naya Rivera).
Gustin, whose theater credits include West Side Story (very fitting!), will first appear in Episode 5 of the third season, which airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
Glee's Dianna Agron: Quinn Still Misses New Directions at 27 September 2011
Glee's Quinn Fabray may be rocking a crazy 'do and acting like she doesn't care, but in truth, the former Cheerio truly misses New Directions.
After giving up her and Puck's child and losing boyfriend Finn (Cory Monteith) to Rachel (Lea Michele), Quinn (Dianna Agron) returned to McKinley High this year with a new perspective on life: Nothing matters anymore.
"She's just been through so much," Agron tells TVGuide.com of Quinn's sudden turnaround. "You know how it is when you're in high school and you don't know if maybe you've made all the right choices, but you want to be an adult and you want to own something. She wants to own something."
Despite smoking with her new "friends" under the bleachers and refusing to reunite the unholy trinity, Quinn did gaze wistfully at the glee club she's vowed to leave behind by the end of the season premiere. "How can she not miss that?" Agron says. "These are her friends and no matter if she's had turmoil with them, especially with some of the guys, they're people that supported her. She had a baby and nobody shunned her, so as much as she wants to be different and step outside of that, I think it would be dishonest to not have her have some feelings of longing for that."
Her destructive ways will come to a head in Tuesday's episode, when she's faced with the return of Shelby (Idina Menzel), who had adopted her baby in Season 1. While Agron played coy and refused to say how this will affect Quinn, you can expect her veneer to crack as she grapples with the identity crisis that may keep her from future interactions with baby Beth.
Glee airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
Matthew Morrison to Direct an Episode of Glee at 27 September 2011
He acts, he sings, he dances and now he'll direct.
Morrison, 32, told the audience at a special acoustic set at Los Angeles' Grammy Museum on Saturday that he would step behind the camera for the eighth episode of Season 3. The episode is set to air in November.
A show rep could not immediately be reached for comment.
Glee: Meet Emma's Parents at 10 September 2011
Glee has cast Don Most and Valerie Mahaffey to play Rusty and Rose Pillsbury, the parents of guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
It's clear now where our favorite obsessive-compulsive ginge may have gotten her red hair. Most is best known for playing the redheaded jokester Ralph Malph on Happy Days. Mahaffey has received an Emmy nomination for her supporting role as Eve on Northern Exposure and has a history of playing seemingly normal but rather intense (read: crazy) redheaded ladies, such as the Orson-loving Alma Hodge on Desperate Housewives. Hmm, "intense" could be a trait in the Pillsbury DNA.
As previously reported, in the same Tuesday, Oct. 4 episode, we'll also meet Mike Chang's (Harry Shum, Jr.) parents played by Keong Sim and Tamlyn Tomita. Now that promises to be an interesting Situ-Asian for Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz)!
Glee returns for its third season on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c on Fox.

Glee Adds American Dreams Vanessa Lengies at 12 August 2011
Glee is adding another new cast member to its roster for Season 3.
Although Sugar can't carry a tune, at least we know Lengies can move thanks to her three seasons on American Dreams dancing on American Bandstand alongside star Brittany Snow.
Lengies, 26, also plays Nurse Kelly Epson on TNT's HawthoRNe and guest-starred on Castle earlier this year. Her casting follows that of Friday Night Lights alum LaMarcus Tinker, who will play Mercedes' new boyfriend this coming season.
Glee returns on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c on Fox.
Glee's Ryan Murphy: None of the Actors Were Fired -- Or Found Out They Were Fired on Twitter at 30 July 2011
Ryan Murphy is now saying that the reason he said Glee actors Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith would not be back for Season 4 was because he was actively working on a New York-set spin-off for their characters.
In an interview with Deadline posted Thursday, Murphy says the actors in fact were not only onboard with the idea of a spin-off, they were also "involved in the process for three to four months to the point where we were even talking about cities and relocations..."
What about Colfer saying he didn't know that he'd essentially been fired off the show until he found out on Twitter? Murphy says it is "absolutely 100 percent not true. None of them were fired." Later in the interview, Murphy added, "When I say they're seniors and they're not coming back to the show, what I did not say is they're not coming back to the show because there will be another show."
"They all knew what was happening, they all had approved it, they all said they wanted to do [the spin-off]," he said. They did have different caveats, including not wanted to move across country. "I feel sensitive about that," Murphy said. "So then what happened was it blew up and a lot of articles were written about it. Some people were writing they're not on the show so that means they must be fired. Well, no. that was 100 percent incorrect."
Murphy now says plans for a spin-off are being tabled. "That's where we are today," he said. "Maybe we'll talk about that in April or May, but for now, let's just concentrate on making Season 3 the best that we can do... As of now, I can tell you I'm not working on [a spin-off.]"
In the meantime, Murphy says he's learned to "monitor what I say."
"Before, I didn't do that. My bad. Stupid."
Glee's Darren Criss Talks Broadway, "Unicorn Dust" and Graduation at 24 July 2011
Is Darren Criss, better known as lead Warbler Blaine on Glee, headed for Broadway? Does he know if Blaine is a senior, and thus headed for graduation? What does he think about creator Ryan Murphy's decision to graduate stars like Lea Michele and Chris Colfer off the show anyways?
TVGuide.com caught up with Criss on the eve of Glee's Sunday Comic-Con panel and attempted to get answers:
Word is you're going to fill in for Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business. Excited?
Darren Criss: I don't know! People keep asking me about it, and it's kind of cool that that's out there in the world, but I cannot confirm anything at all. I mean, yeah, that would be really cool. That's certainly a wonderful role and a great show, and it would certainly be exciting to be a part of it. ... But it's definitely not confirmed by any means. I'm actually more just focusing on trying to get my head screwed back on right now.
Why is it unscrewed?
Criss: I've just been traveling a whole lot and doing a lot of projects. I'm tired. I've been traveling a lot for music. I haven't been home in awhile.
You guys go back in to production on Glee soon. Are you ready?
Criss: Yes, soon. I don't know even know what day it is, but soon. I'm weird, though. I'm kind of a glutton for punishment. I really like working and doing as much as I can... while I have the enthusiasm and wherewithal. I'm kind of abusing that to the bitter end.
I just spoke with one of Glee's new writers, Marti Noxon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. She said you're "made of unicorn dust" and that she can't wait to write for Blaine.
Criss: Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on. I always say that about people. I say "unicorn dust and rainbow farts." Yeah, she and I are going to get along famously. I mean she's here, and she comes from the nerd world, too. They're playing the Buffy musical to wrap [the convention] up. She's a fangirl, I'm a fanboy. These are my people, man. It's great to be at Comic-Con, but it's weird to be on the other side because I've come for the past three years as a fan, and I gotta say, the other side is a lot more fun. I'm happy to be here for Glee, but there are so many panels I wish could be at. I wish I was there with all the fans.
I don't think you'd survive on the exhibition floor.
Criss: I might go to the floor in costume! It's weird, last year I was on a panel for the Harry Potter fandom and we were worried because it was on at the same time as that Glee panel. And here we are a year later, and I'm on the other side. It's a beautiful, beautiful twist of faith.
So Ryan Murphy said everyone's a senior this season except Sam (Chord Overstreet). But he also said Blaine is "ambiguous." How old is Blaine to your knowledge?
Criss: I have no idea how old I am! I truly don't know, and you can call me irresponsible or ignorant or what have you — maybe I don't do my homework — but I remember hearing I was a year older than Kurt. I remember reading that when Ryan was talking about Blaine. So that would mean he's graduated by now but maybe....
Maybe he failed a year!
Criss: Maybe he did! Or maybe he transferred a year! But there's always people in your class who are older, like, "How come you're not a senior?" And then they say so-and-so happened. Or maybe he took some time off. [Or] he had a little bit of trauma at his old school? He is a year older than Kurt, but maybe he's still a junior or senior. I don't know, we'll find out. I'm very excited for Season 3. I think there are so many exciting things that can happen. I think having the extra writers will be a really wonderful thing and add more dimensions to the show. I'm just so excited, I can't contain myself.
Do you know anything about what's coming up for Blaine?
Criss: I have no idea. My guess is as good as anybody's. But the thing I always say about Glee is that I've been invited to this party that was swinging before I got there. So to feel entitled to anything at this party is absurd. I'm just happy that they're having me around. I'm so thrilled they promoted me to a series regular. That was very special. I don't know what that means or entails, but I'm just happy to still be at the party. We'll see.
The Glee Project: Could any of these hopefuls really be the next Lea, Cory or Chris?
You've been a mentor on The Glee Project twice...
Criss: I really love those kids a lot. I really worked with them; they're all really great. I haven't seen a lot of the show yet just because I've been traveling. But it's reality TV, so I'm sure they're cutting things in certain ways. ... I'm interested to see how. All of them were so hard-working, so wonderful, so sweet. I was in awe of their sweetness. I was telling the producers, "Good luck trying to make this dramatic, they're all so nice!" I'm sure they found a way.
The winner will apparently be a nemesis for Coach Sue. What can you tell us about the winner? How do they stick out?
Criss: Not to be Saturday morning cartoonish — but they're all winners of Glee. They all made it there out of a huge number of people, and they all had something very special about them. So, the person who did win just so happened to fit whatever scheme that Ryan wanted at the time. And since I don't know what's going to happen in Season 3, I don't know what that is. But I think when we see it we're going to love it and it's going to be great. This person is going to add a different color to the show for sure.
What do you make of all this graduation talk? On one hand, Ryan wants to keep Glee grounded in some reality. n the other hand, he wants to graduate the stars off the show.
Criss: I don't think it's an end so much as a departure point, literally and figuratively, for the characters and the actors themselves. Ryan has talked a lot about high school as this journey you go on. You go in as one person and you leave as another. So to put a flag at the end, like this is the finishing point, tells me there's going to be some really interesting arcs. That tells me there's going to be really cool developments — that at the end of it, they're coming out as different people, for better or for worse. ... It'll be bittersweet to me personally because I'll miss working with those actors. But for them, I think it'll be good stuff for their stories. And also, for them as actors, it's only the beginning. I mean, they're all superstars. They have massive wings, and I think they're going to take off.
And, of course, Ryan has the right to change his mind.
Criss: And he's been known to!
Is Darren Criss Ditching Glee for Broadway? at 22 July 2011
Blaine and The Warblers may not have made it to New York for nationals last season on Glee, but actor Darren Criss may have his chance to shine.
Criss, 24, is about to begin negotiations to succeed Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Deadline reports.
Criss would do a three-week stint preceded by two weeks of rehearsals on the musical, which was revived this past March and recently won a Tony award. If the deal goes through, he would have to miss an episode-and-a-half of Glee. However, series co-creator Ryan Murphy reportedly encouraged Criss to take the chance, according to Deadline.
Criss, who made his Glee debut last November, was recently promoted to series regular along with Harry Shum, Jr. He toured with the rest of the Glee cast around the United States, England and Ireland and will appear in Glee: The 3D Concert Movie.
After Criss' proposed run, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is still looking for Radcliffe's permanent replacement, as well as an actor to take over John Larroquette's role.
Season 3 of Glee premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c on Fox.
Glee Producer Sues Series Co-Creator Over Compensation at 20 July 2011
Glee producer Michael Novick is suing co-creator and executive producer Ian Brennan, claiming that Brennan failed to honor a compensation agreement made regarding the hit Fox musical, TMZ reports.
In the suit, Novick claims that Brennan, his former friend, developed a concept for Glee as a screenplay for a movie, and that he and Brennan agreed to work together to sell the project.
Novick approached Ryan Murphy about the project at a West Hollywood gym, and Murphy loved it, saying it would make a better TV show than a film. According to the suit, Murphy then pitched the show to Fox. When negotiations hit a snag, Brennan asked Novick to accept a lower fee and lesser credit. Novick claims Brennan promised him 15 percent of any back-end compensation Brennan would receive in exchange for accepting a lower credit.
Novick took the lesser credit — he's billed as a producer -- but says he hasn't received what was promised to him by Brennan. He is suing for unspecified damages.
Before Glee, Novick co-starred in the 2006 film Flourish, starring Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer and Leighton Meester.
Glee's Max Adler: It Would Be Nice for Karofsky to Have Resolution at 20 July 2011
Max Adler won't say if Glee's Dave Karofsky, the closeted jock who planted a big wet one on Kurt last year, will be back this season — but it sure sounds like he will.
"There have been discussions," Adler tells TVGuide.com. "I can say, definitely stay tuned and please watch because it will be pretty neat."
"Karofsky's story line wasn't completely resolved after the prom episode. I feel like there's more to look at and discover with him and his struggles," Adler continues. "Is he going to overcome it? Or is he going to give up on himself and hide in the shadows? ... I feel like it would be nice for Karofsky to have a happy ending and a resolution. But at this point I don't know where they're going to take him. There could be a totally different lesson in there to be learned that I don't even see yet."
On this week's episode of The Glee Project, Adler will be teaching a lesson of his own to the remaining six contestants. As a guest mentor, he'll be schooling the kids on the importance of tenacity. " I came on Glee with two lines in one episode, and that's all it was," he says. "It's been episode to episode ever since, there's never been a guarantee for me. Maybe that's why they brought me in for tenacity week."
To test that tenacity, the kids will be getting — what else? — slushees in the face. Adler says that wasn't always the plan. The original challenge was to sing while being bombarded with... bubbles. "The kids were supposed to sing through all these bubbles, but that fell flat. No one was thrown off (laughs). You barely noticed they were there." The producers came up with slushees instead. "We threw different things at them, too. You'll see how else we changed it up."
But the contestants still brought it, apparently, and then some. "The tension level is very high, I could sense that when I walked in," Adler says. "It flashed me back to the time right before I got Glee, that insatiable hunger. You just dig from deep down and find the energy to keep going. They all did that. When they shot the music video, it was a 5 p.m. call time and they kept working 'til the sun came up."
As for the winner, Adler says the prize is well deserved — and the person already has fans in the cast. "This person definitely fought very hard. I think they're going to fit right in," he says. "The Glee actors I've already talked to about the winner were all excited. We don't really have anybody on the show like this person." Future mentors from the cast include Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling and Ashley Fink.
No hints as to who the lucky recruit is, but Adler has nice things to say about all the contestants left: "Samuel's got that amazing intensity and sexuality and talent. Hannah's got that smile that can light up a room. Alex shines, and how often do you find someone with a voice like that? Damian is going to be a star no matter what happens for him... " Read into that what you will.

Emmy Nominee Chris Colfer on Graduating from Glee: It's Definitely Not My Choice at 15 July 2011
"Oh my God, I couldn't go on my Twitter [Wednesday] without getting severe anxiety," says Chris Colfer. That's when Ryan Murphy made it official that Colfer, along with Glee stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, would be exiting the show after the coming third season.
Colfer, who received his second Emmy nomination for playing Kurt Hummel on Thursday, says while the news wasn't unexpected, it was still shocking to hear it.
"I think it was something we all knew was coming, just because Ryan has said from the beginning that people would be graduating," he says. "It's definitely not my choice, but I absolutely respect it and understand why it has to happen. Ryan has said, and I love this, that there's nothing sadder than a high school student with a bald spot — it's true! This is what happens in real life. Kids grow up and they move on. It makes sense that that's what we would do."
At the moment, he's too busy to get weepy. Asked how he'd celebrate his Emmy nod, Colfer said he's still filming the movie Struck By Lightning. "I'm going to the set of a movie that I'm starring in, wrote and am producing, so that's not too bad!"
Glee goes back into production next month, but Colfer's still waiting to hear what senior year holds for Kurt and his new boyfriend Blaine (Darren Criss). But he is excited about one thing: "I am very much looking forward to the graduation gown that Kurt wears because Lord knows it's going to be out of this world."
Glee: Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer Not Returning for Season 4 at 14 July 2011
Time for Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer to start getting their cap and gowns ready.
After weeks of speculation about which characters will be graduating from McKinley High on Glee, co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter that the trio will depart after the upcoming third season.
Michele, Monteith and Colfer are "not going to be back at all for Season 4," Murphy said. "You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year."
He added that "more characters are leaving than are staying" and left an open question as to who else will say goodbye to New Directions for good. Exactly who's in and who's out for Season 4 will be revealed in the third season premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
"We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea," Murphy told THR. "They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top."
Michele tweeted about the news late Wednesday: "We always knew we'd graduate in real time. It's all part of the plan and it's all good! It's going to make Season 3 amazing!!!"
Murphy said planning for the future will serve as a major theme this coming season. "I'm much more interested in Lea's character — not so much on her relationship with Finn, but more on what her dreams are beyond high school and how she plans on getting them."
News of Michele, Monteith and Colfer's impending exits come just after Harry Shum Jr. and Colfer's on-screen boyfriend, Darren Criss, were promoted to series regulars for Season 3. This season will also introduce a new recurring character, who will be played by the winner of The Glee Project, to serve as a foil for Sue (Jane Lynch).
Glee Boss Ryan Murphy Reveals Sue's New Nemesis at 22 June 2011
Is Mr. Schuester out of Coach Sue's crosshairs for good? It sure seems like it. He and Coach Sue called a truce at the end of last season, and now Glee boss Ryan Murphy says she's getting a new archrival!
"The winner of The Glee Project is the person who she hates the most in the history of the show," Murphy tells TVGuide.com exclusively. The Glee Project, airing Sundays at 9/8c on Oxygen, is the reality competition aimed at finding new blood for McKinley. The winner gets a seven-episode arc when Glee returns this fall.
Next season, Murphy says Sue (Jane Lynch) will get a new love interest and run for Congress, but her motivation to take down her new opponent will keep her tied to McKinley High. "The Glee Project winner is Sue Sylvester's new archenemy and she is going to destroy their life," he says.
The winning contestant has no idea yet that he or she will be going toe-to-toe with Lynch, Murphy says.
While viewers won't find out which of the remaining 10 finalists will take the top prize for several weeks, the winner has already made quite an impression on the cast of the Fox musical, as well as Murphy.
"The person that won, for me, the reason why I chose them was because they had the exact same thing that Lea Michele has, that Chris Colfer has, that Darren Criss has, which is they are a star and I want to write for them," Murphy says. "They just inspired me and they inspired the rest of the regulars of the Glee cast, many of whom were mentors during the show. I would go to them and I would say, 'Help me cast this. What do you guys think?'"
In addition to asking the cast for input, Murphy says he was able to rely heavily on casting director Robert Ulrich to find the right talent for the series.
"How he cast this and gave me the finalists was very similar to how he did the Glee pilot. All I said was I want people who are unknown and I want creative stars," Murphy says. "They don't have to be beautiful, they don't have to be handsome, they just have to be talented and they have to have moving stories. That, at the end of the day, is what I've always done and what we do on Glee."
Although he and the cast all came to the same conclusion, Murphy says that the process of picking a winner was not as cut-and-dried as it seems. "The person that we chose is not who I think everybody thinks it is," Murphy says. "The person that won was not the person I thought would win going in."
Which Glee Project contestant do you think would make the best new enemy for Sue?
Check back to read the second part of our interview with Murphy, in which he talks about his McKinley seniors, the show's critics and what's ahead.
Glee's Ryan Murphy Is Engaged at 18 June 2011
New Directions may not have won Nationals, but they have another happy event to sing about: Ryan Murphy is engaged.

Besides being the man behind Fox's cash cow, Murphy also created FX's Nip/Tuck and Popular. He's currently shooting the American Horror Story pilot, which he co-created with Brad Falchuk.
Glee! Live! Concert Review Costs Chicago Critic Her Job at 12 June 2011
Paige Wiser is dismissed from the Chicago Sun-Times after admitting she did not watch complete show performance.
Chicago Sun-Times TV critic Paige Wiser has lost her job after admitting that she fabricated parts of her write-up on a "Glee! Live!" concert on June 3.
Wiser's review, published June 5 in the paper, mentioned a song that was never performed and described another number she did not personally see, according to the Chicago Tribune. Wiser said, "I'm at fault. I do understand what a big deal this was. I am ashamed, and it's just a matter of making bad decisions when you're exhausted."
Wiser reportedly left the Allstate Arena show because her son had fallen off a chair and her daughter had thrown up, and she based her erroneous information on previous Glee Live! set lists. Wiser said, "I'd like to think it wouldn't have been part of my thought process if it hadn't been 1 a.m. and I was just trying to get the story done."
The Sun-Times was tipped off to the inconsistencies by a reader. Editor in Chief Don Hayer announced Wiser's dismissal in a note posted online on June 9. He wrote, "Accuracy and honesty in reporting are essential parts of the promise we make to our readers. We regret the incident and apologize."
Wiser had been with the paper for 17 years. She said, "Of course I was in the wrong. I made a horrible decision at 1am when I was tired, but I know it was not worth throwing away a career. But I have no excuse. I know the rules.”
Wiser also says she fabricated the review, in part, to make up for difficulties on an assignment last month on Oprah Winfrey's farewell show.
Glee Boss Still Wants Bruce Springsteen to Guest-Star at 12 June 2011
Rocker Bruce Springsteen is still at the top of the Glee producers' list for future guest stars, E! Online reports.
The Boss' name was first thrown around as a possible guest star last season. Although Springsteen hasn't appeared on the show, executive producer Ian Brennan told E! he would still love to have him. And the part Brennan wants the musician to play? A motivational speaker.
As for the more permanent fixtures on Fox's musical smash, Brennan continued to suggest Season 3 might be the end of the road for some of the show's characters, who will be high school seniors next year.
"We aren't going to change the entire cast, but some of the cast will graduate," Brennan said. "I just think we would be missing a beat if we didn't acknowledge the fact that a huge part of high school is graduating from high school, and that's going to give us a lot of stuff to write to in Season 3.
"Every time we bring in a new character it's worked out really well; we've been very fortunate," Brennan continued. "We get to sort of start new — we get to bring in new characters and write new storylines So bringing in new characters will allow us a little more flexibility and will add to the longevity of the show."
One of those new characters will come from Oxygen's The Glee Project, a new reality competition show premiering Sunday that gives contestants a chance to earn a role on Glee.
"The reality show has cast a character that is very exciting," Brennan said. "I can't even tell you whether it's a guy or a girl, but we are very, very excited about the prospect of bring on this new person. ... This person coming onto the show is going to add a really, really, funny dynamic."

Watch the Warblers Weepy Serenade for Kurt at 26 April 2011
Ah Glee, you always know how to wring a tear from us. Check out the Warblers' dreamy take on Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" from the special super-sized "Born This Way" episode Tuesday (8/7c on Fox). As you can see from Kurt's lack of blue blazer, he's back at McKinley High, and obviously his former choirmates miss him already.
We can't help feeling a little sniffly after watching this, even if we are distracted by Kurt's multi-key necklace. Wonder where he got that.
